The ageing of the population has brought the concept of the silver economy to the economy and senior tourism to the tourism. This paper aims to evaluate seniors' preferences for tourism based on selected indicators in the context of various socio-economic characteristics. The perception of senior tourism was analysed based on a questionnaire survey. At the same time, we tested hypotheses regarding the relationship between seniors' socio-economic characteristics and travel preferences. Our research has shown that most seniors travel for relaxation, for health, i.e. visiting a spa or wellness centre, for culture or tourist activities. Less significant reasons for seniors to travel were to visit relatives, religion, shopping, social interaction, dining or business travel. Hypothesis testing revealed that men and women perceived length of stay, price of stay, discounts on visit, or motive or type of accommodation equally when planning a holiday. However, women plan holidays with more time in advance than men. Similar results were obtained by testing selected indicators in the context of respondents' place of residence - urban and rural. We did not observe any differences in holiday planning across age groups of respondents

Praca recenzowana / Peer-reviewed paperThis publication includes opinion and research papers written by authors with academic backgrounds from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. The monograph consists of 14 chapters and the order of them refers to the relationship between the family and the health of its members. The first seven texts concern children’s health problems. The next two concern widely defined issues of nutrition and adult nursing. The next four discuss health issues of the elderly, while the last describes the dilemma of bereaved family members who have to decide about organ donation. The individual chapters show different aspects of family participation in the treatment and care of children, the elderly, the chronically ill, and the disabled. The discussed topics are a part of the wider issue of social medicine. A very important issue is the interdisciplinary problem of interaction between health and illness and their influence on the family, which is on one hand embedded in medical science, while on the other hand it refers to the social sciences, especially family sociology, psychology, pedagogy, and also social policy to some extent. The authors of the monograph also discuss the issue of life quality of the elderly living in domestic environments and the health and social problems they face. The authors also analyse the role of nurses in promoting health, such as immunisation, rational nutrition, and ethical aspects such as the screening of newborns. This monograph is addressed to all who work or want to work with families and support them in the difficult challenges posed by disease. The authors hope the monograph will increase understanding and familiarity with the health problems of relatives

The aim of this paper was to determine the impact of labour costs and labour productivity on foreign investors when deciding on the placement of their investments in a given country. The relationship between labour costs and labour productivity and the inflow of foreign direct investment was examined. The data necessary for the analysis were obtained from the ILOSTAT database. The analysis for the V4 countries was demonstrated, i.e. the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the Slovak Republic for the period of 2004 to 2018. Correlation analysis was performed to examine the statistical dependence of time series. In the analysis of aggregate data for the V4 countries, was observed only a moderate correlation between the amount of foreign direct investment and indicators of productivity and labour costs. Dane niezbędne do analizy uzyskano z bazy danych ILOSTAT. Przedstawiono analizę dla krajów V4, tj. Czech, Węgier, Polski i Słowacji za lata 2004-2018. Analizę korelacji przeprowadzono w celu zbadania zależności statystycznych szeregów czasowych. W analizie danych zagregowanych dla krajów V4 zaobserwowano jedynie umiarkowaną korelację między wielkością bezpośrednich inwestycji zagranicznych a wskaźnikami produktywności i kosztów pracy

Family businesses began to emerge in Slovakia after the change of social establishment in 1989, and since then they represent a significant group of business entities with a significant contribution to the economy, and have significant growth potential. Innovations have become a driving force for the future opportunities of these companies. Based on empirical research, this paper aims to identify the innovation activities of small and medium-sized family businesses in Slovakia and to determine their impact on the company’s economic results. We can state that out of small and medium-sized family businesses included in the survey, 76.5% have implemented innovations in the last five years. We use statistical tests to verify the research hypotheses. We can state that there is a statistically significant relationship between the size of the company and the number of types of introduced innovations, as well as between the generation running the company and the number of types of introduced innovations. Second-generation family businesses can, therefore, be considered more innovative than first-generation family businesses. We investigate the impact of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic on innovation activities in these companies. It is interesting that in 30.6% of family businesses the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic positively affected their innovation activities
